WSL

Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) is a feature of Windows that allows developers to run a Linux environment without the need for a separate virtual machine or dual booting. There are two versions of WSL: WSL 1 and WSL 2.

Steps

  1. Open Start
  2. Search for Turn Windows Features on or off
  3. Click the top result to open the Windows Features settings
  4. Check the Virtual Machine Platform option
  5. Check the Windows Subsystem for Linux option
  6. Click the OK button
  7. Click the Restart now button

You can also install Ubuntu from the Microsoft Store: 

  1. Go to Start Button > Microsoft Store
  2. Type “Ubuntu” into the search field
  3. Click Run Ubuntu on Windows
  4. Click the Ubuntu distribution you’d like to install
